We Morn The Loss of a Dear Friend!

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 1:29:00 pm

Carmen Stefanescu has passed on from this world to the next. We have lost an amazing woman. Someone I admired very much and who has been my friend for years.

We met years ago when I read her book Shadows of the Past and reviewed it for my blog. She was a most special lady and she created increadable worlds. She lived through a harsh time on Romanian history where harsh and awful things could happen to you for writing such things but she never let it stop her from her dreams.

I will miss her emails but I know that where she is she safe and loved. My heart goes out to her loving family and grandchildren. Silvia Angela Bugariu take strength that she loved you and know that she will be watching over you.

2018 First Place Best Paranormal Fiction by the Association of Texas Authors

Crowned Heart Recipient from InD'Tale Magazine.

Nominee for InD’tale Magazine’s 2018 RONE Awards in the Paranormal Long category.

“Becki Willis blends bits of history with bits of fancy, and weaves a tantalizing tale you won’t soon forget.”

Reporter Gera Stapleton has a difficult choice to make: write the story of a lifetime, or save the legacy of a town—and a man—she has come to love.

Assigned to an impossible story in Jerome, Arizona about a “ghost” named Mac, Gera knows it’s a fluff piece, at best, until a local man is murdered in the middle of town. When the townspeople blame Mac, she knows the killer is getting away with… well, murder.

Seeing the opportunity for a cover-worthy piece, Gera sets out to find the real killer. In a town filled with curiosities, she befriends a lonely old woman, butts heads with an ornery sheriff, falls for a sexy hotel owner, and uncovers an amazing tale about greed, deception, and family honor. And when the killer targets her as the next victim, an unlikely savior comes to her rescue.

Will she write the story that launches her career? Or will she honor a family’s legacy from the past?

Smart dialogue, plenty of action, and a touch of the supernatural make this a must-read novel. You'll find yourself wondering Is it possible? Are there truly such things as tangible spirits, after all?

From readers like you:
"A delicious read. It has ghostly whispers, a brave leading character, bad guys, fun, danger and love. " ...
"Loved this book!" ...
"What an interesting, captivating cast of characters!" ...
"The setting and the ghost legends all added to the atmosphere. The story was good and so were the characters.

WW4BB Presents: The Flames of Florence by Donna Russo Morin

Posted by wiccawitch4 on 10:06:00 am

Historical Thriller
Date Published: May 8, 2018
Publisher: Diversion Books

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

"A glittering Renaissance gem of a novel. Donna Russo Morin, a master of her craft, has penned an intricate story full of lush historical detail with a plot that will leave you breathless." —Tasha Alexander, New York Times bestselling author of Death in St. Petersburg

In her final standalone novel featuring Da Vinci's Disciples, Donna Russo Morin delivers a thrilling story of the secret female artists of Florence, under the tutelage of Leonardo Da Vinci, and their heroic, potentially deadly efforts to save great works of art from the infamous Bonfire of the Vanities.

"Illicit plots, mysterious paintings, and Leonardo da Vinci all have their part to play in this delicious, heart-pounding work." —Kate Quinn, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Alice Network

Lorenzo de Medici is dead, and his son Piero has brought war and famine upon the city of Florence. Yet, the glory that is Renaissance artistry grows more magnificent, as does the work of the women known as Da Vinci's Disciples. Now they face their most dangerous challenge, one shrouded in the cloak of a monk.

From the ashes of war, Friar Girolamo Savonarola rises. Some call him a savior and a prophet, a man willing to overthrow tyrannical rulers and corrupt clergy, the Borgia Pope among them. Fra Girolamo is determined to remold Florence from an avaricious, secular culture to a paragon of Christian virtues.

Many call Savonarola a delusional heretic, incapable of anything but self-serving fanaticism. When he sets out to destroy all secular art forms, Da Vinci's Disciples call him an enemy … but not all of them.

"Like a glorious Italian fresco-richly textured and vividly portrayed … Highly recommended for lovers of history, art, and courageous women." —Anna Lee Huber, bestselling author of the Lady Darby Mysteries

"Donna Russo Morin renders one of the most tumultuous periods in Florence's history in bright colors and with vivid descriptions. This tale of a group of determined women standing up for what they believe in … will absolutely resonate with modern readers." —Alyssa Palombo, author of The Most Beautiful Woman in Florence

About the Author

Donna Russo Morin’s passion for the written word began when she was a child, took on a feminist edge as she grew through the sixties, and blossomed into a distinctive style of action-filled historical fiction at a defining moment in her life. As a second-generation American of full Italian descent, Donna combined her historical research with her genealogical studies, finding that her birth name (Russo) and her family roots are traceable to ninth century Florence…the very city in which the Da Vinci’s Disciples trilogy is set.
Donna Russo (Morin) is the internationally published author of six multi-award-winning historical novels including PORTRAIT OF A CONSPIRACY: Da Vinci’s Disciples Book One (a finalist in Foreword Reviews BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR), and THE COMPETITION: Da Vinci’s Disciples Book Two (EDITOR’S CHOICE, Historical Novel Society Review). The final book in her Da Vinci’s Disciples trilogy, THE FLAMES OF FLORENCE, releases May 8, 2018. Also this summer, my novel, inspired by our own home state, GILDED SUMMERS: A Novel of Newport’s Gilded Age will also release this summer. Excerpt

“I know what you’re thinking.” Her accent thickens. “I will get away from this life.”

And why don’t I believe her? Why do I feel like I’ll see a picture of her dead body on the front-page news someday?

The mob.

No getting out.

Not alive, at least.

My eyes open at the rustle of material. She’s lifting my blazer from her lap, holding it out to me, and I catch sight of the angel wings on the inside of her wrist as the jacket sleeve slides up a little.

I almost shut my eyes again as a memory—a recognition of some sort—tries to resurface. It’s like a thin veil has dropped over my mind, taunting me with only fragments, a puzzle to figure out.

“We’re here, Mr. King,” my driver says after opening the glass partition.

I had instructed him to park around the block from the location Gia gave me. Hopefully she won’t be noticed. And as far as we could tell, we didn’t have a tail.

But before she leaves, there’s something I still need to know. “How’d you get involved with the mob in the first place?” I finally take my jacket from her, and she reaches for the handle.

“My father,” she says before getting out and closing the door.

And it’s in that moment everything comes to me.

About the Author

Brittney Sahin began writing at an early age, with the dream to be a published author before the age of 18. Although academic pursuits (and, later, a teaching career) interrupted her aspirations, she never stopped writing--never stopped imagining.

It wasn't until her students encouraged her to follow her dreams that Brittney said goodbye to Upstate New York in order to start a new adventure in the place she was raised: Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she decided to take her students' advice and begin to write again.

In 2015, she published her first novel, Silenced Memories (The Safe Bet). When she is not working on upcoming novels, she spends time with her family. She is a proud mother of two boys, and a lover of suspense novels, coffee, and the outdoors.

Realm of Spirits: They are being hunted Chapter 3 Blossom of the North Star How the story compares to the comic script

Realm of Spirits: They are being hunted was published in 2014 and I reviewed it in 2015. I was in love with the story from the start and knew it would go far. The characters jumped from the page and dazzled you in a way that many stories failed to do and I couldn't help but think that if put into comic book form where you could actually see the characters come to life this story would be literally Unstoppable!

On January 20. 2015 I wrote a review about this novel saying.

This was a incredible read! Sylvester Edmonds is a wonderful author! I was fascinated when reading the synapses of this one and decided I need it give it a go. I don't read religious books as a rule but am a big fan of books having to do with angels and Nephilim so this one intrigued me.

This one is a short but very intriguing story that keeps you entertained from front to back and is defiantly action packed with baby's popping out everywhere..lol I couldn't put the book down for a second and thought that Edmonds take on the whole thing was brilliant. My favorite baby being born was the phoenix, as it has always been one of my favorite mythological creatures. Another thing I liked about this were the beautiful colored pages at the front and back! I found it really added to the book and I think as the book is so short turning the whole thing into a graphic novel would make it really cool and add to the story.

I defiantly recommend this book to others who would like to give it a try as I did.

I have been patiently following the progress of Waking Eyes Comics since they started working on the comic and every time I get more and more impressed as the characters I remember come to life in drawings and then at the appearance of Realm of Spirits at Awesome Con 2018. I am so amazingly proud of Sylvester and all he has achieved with this story. The new comic is going to rock peoples socks off! its so much more then a story its a journey, one that inspires the mind and feeds the soul.

Shadows of the Past

Publish date: 4th December 2012
Publisher: Wild Child Publishing
Genre: paranormal/light romance/light horror.

Blurb

Anne's relationship with her boyfriend Neil has disintegrated. After a two-year separation, they pack for a week vacation in hopes of reconciling. But fate has other plans for them.
The discovery of a bejeweled cross and ancient human bones opens a door to a new and frightening world--one where the ghost of a medieval nun named Genevieve will not let Anne rest. This new world threatens not only to ruin Anne and Neil's vacation but to end all hopes of reconciliation as Anne feels compelled to help free Genevieve's soul from its torment.

Can Anne save her relationship and help Genevieve find her eternal rest?

The twists and turns in this paranormal tale keep the reader guessing up to the end and weave themselves together into a quest to rekindle love.

Excerpt

"Come, we should leave at once," she said and glanced nervously over her shoulder. "Something terrible happened after you left for town. I think the Abbess found out about us. Our meeting in Uncle Ryan's cabin is no longer a secret. We have been overheard. For all I know someone spies on us even as we speak. I think the Abbess, or one of her 'friends,' is hovering somewhere nearby and listening to every word."

Andrew pulled Genevieve to his chest. "Do you regret you've come with me?"

Passion smothered Genevieve's doubt and guilt. "Never," she answered, aware of her body's response to his touch, and she succumbed to his embrace.

Calming the gnawing unease in her mind and the thought of Sister Dominica guessing she was the dough of a sinner, Genevieve repeated, "Never."

With her eyes closed and their bodies touching she became, for the very first time, simply a woman. She melted in his embrace in spite of the invisible vicious threat breathing around them. Aware they might never be alone again, she fought hard to silence the voice of conscience berating her.

"Oh, God. Please forgive me," Andrew muttered under his breath when he bowed his head to kiss her. Their lips met in a passionate first kiss.

Genevieve's spirits fell and her heart skipped a beat when, a couple of seconds later, she opened her eyes and her gaze fell on a knot strangers.

… . . .

Tears welled in Anne's eyes, blurring her vision. She couldn’t explain them, or the sudden sadness seeping into her heart. This should’ve been a moment of happiness or, at least, contentment. She was with Neil again, and the outcome of their trip together should, very likely, bring their reconciliation. Why then did she seem detached from where she stood?
Anne shivered. Why the deep feeling of having seen this place, this forest before? And why the eerie sensation of being present here only in the body, while her mind was far away?

Away from the forest.

Away from Neil, the man who'd betrayed her trust and her love.

An onrush of sensations unfamiliar to her followed. Dizziness and a malevolent feeling of unreality suffocated her.

Anne edged cautiously closer to the rim of the bare cliff. Her foot tapped the edge. It seemed solid. She stared into the darkness of the abyss at her feet. It echoed the shadows in her heart. An unusual curiosity took hold of her. Should she step ahead? What was down there? Other human bones? Another mystery? The presence of evil, creeping up and enveloping her, became almost palpable. The vines of fog folded around her, dragging her to the depth. Her throat turned dry, and she gasped for air.

Megan's face contorted, the voice no longer pleasant. A hoarse gurgle, spluttering distorted words, "Yes, come... I'm waiting... I've been waiting for you for such a long time..."
